Bigger and Better Things

Two days ago was by far the saddest day of my 18 year life.  It was officially the last baseball game I every played.  We lost to Viewmont 6-2 which ended our season for good.  I did go 1-3 with a single but that was it.  We just couldn't hit the ball.  The feeling I will never forget was when there was 2 outs in the top of the 7th inning.  So many thoughts were going through my head such as "this is the last time I will ever play" and "that was my last at-bat ever in a baseball game."  I've never cried so much and for so long than after the game.  By the time I walked from home plate to right field for the team to meet, I was crying way hard.  Just hearing the coaches talk and the things they said about us seniors made me cry even more.  Coach Ron then met with just us nine seniors and even he started to choke up.  The team later came out to right field and gave everyone hugs.  Of my 3 years, I've never seen the younger kids crying that much.  Even the little sophomores were crying.  That shows that we seniors set an amazing example to them.  One of the freshman, whom I said five words to before, said that he looked up to me the most and that it was great watching me play the game.  That made me cry so much harder because it told me that I made my time playing the game my hardest and that I also set an example of how to be a person to at least one of the kids.  That is so much better than being told you're way good at something or of the sort.  Another great feeling is when I walked up out of the stadium and my close friends (such as Taylor Durrant, Connor Petersen, and my girlfriend Brittney Newland) and family were up there waiting for me.  It choked me up again knowing of the support that I have from the close people in my life.  I started bawling when I gave my dad a hug because he has been the man behind my success in the game.  He has taught me everything from swinging the bat to sliding correctly.  Tough night but it is now time to move on to bigger and better things in life.  I've decided to forgo pursuing college baseball and focus on my mission and education.

Bingham Loss and Davis Thromping

1st round against Bingham didn't go too well.  We lost 11-8 thanks in part of errors, missed signs, and walks.  We should've beat them for the 7 straight year but nope.  I went 1-2 with a two-run double to the right field wall and 2 walks.  I also scored a run when the pitcher balked to first base.  All-in-all it was a pretty good game personally for me, including my picture in the paper this morning (up above).

Just got done with the Davis game in the Loser's Bracket and we killed them 10-1.  We now move on to play Viewmont on Monday at UVU.  Kelt pitched complete game and I went a perfect 4-4 with 2 singles, double, triple, and 2 RBI's.  I'm now 5-6 this tournament and on-base 7-8.  Gotta love it baby!!

State Tourney

First post and what better than talk about baseball. This week has been full of uncertainty for me and the baseball team. The state is taking 4 teams from our region to State and we were in 5th place last week. Pleasant Grove and Alta were 6-4 while we were 6-6 so that means either of the teams (PG or Alta) had to sweep the 2 games for us to have a play-in game with the loser of the two. Well, that exact thing happened and we had a shot at Alta yesterday, win or go home format. We crushed them 11-3 to send the Hawks home for the season and it feels great! I went 2-4 with 2 singles and an RBI, one of the singles coming off of the one and only Britton Wren. He transferred from Jordan to Alta this past year. His first appearance against us was last time we played in April. I hit 2 home runs and a double off of him. So he was a little pissed yesterday when he came in. I was first up to face him...again:) What do you expect, he throws a fastball as hard as he could and hits the backstop...HE TRIED HITTING ME HAHAHAHA! Dugout went a little crazy and I just smiled at him and hit a rocket-single to shortstop a couple pitches later. Haha that made my day, then sending them packing was even better. So we are now in the tournament against Bingham on Tuesday for the 1st round. Pretty excited I might say!  I'll update our journey to the State Championship.
